We've named the Scottish woman's voice who tells us where to go on our gps "Matilda". We were not so fond of Mathilda today. It took us about an hour and fifteen minutes to get out of Edinburgh because Mathilda kept sending us to city streets that were closed! After all that time, Bill swore at Mathilda!! Hysterical! Next time maybe we get a driver!
Before we left Edinburgh, I took this one last picture of this? Monument? Not sure? But we used it as a landmark, as it was at the end of our street, Princes Street, in the Waterloo Section of Edinburgh.
Next stop was the Battleground of The Battle of Bannockburn in Stirling. This battle took place in the 1400's between Robert the Bruce and King Edward ll of England. Edward was trying to cement his rule over Scotland as well as England. He was going up to re-supply the Stirling Castle to maintain the castle in English hands. Edward had 2 1/2 as many troops as Robert the Bruce of Scotland. Scotland won! The movie, Braveheart, with Mel Gibson tells this gory story.
This is battleground.
Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland
We then drove to the Stirling Castle and viewed it from the outside.
Next we drove a few hours through the Trossachs National Park Mountain Pass, past many babbling brooks and fields of sheep. The roads were windy and narrow, therefore... Left curb issues! 🙄. The scenery was beautiful, even though we had very little sun. I love the farms...
And rivers and brooks. I want my dad to teach me to fly fish. That's on my to do list for this spring and summer!
The sheep!!
And the old stone walls...
The mountain pass...
We had a nice supper in Fort William and then arrived at our B&B, which overlooks Loch Lamond and the mountains. We are upstairs with a balcony (Brr) and look out through the trees. The name of the B&B is "TreeTops", how perfect!

Sounds like a blast. The round a bouts are particularly tricky but fun. Enjoy.
